My wife was going through our bottles of spirits to find something to calm her down during one of her teacher meetings, where she knew ahead of time she would be frustrated. First, she finished off that bottle of Peppermint Schnapps. After dinner, we made sure my that my kid was going to run a bath and get into it. 2 separate processes. (You parents know what I’m talking about.) I had already had a dirty martini, and I decided to go through with my plan of cutting my COVID hair. I hadn’t had a proper haircut in months, and my wife cut my hair a few times. I decided that I was going to use the dog clippers to cut my locks down to a more acceptable length. She LOOOOOOVED this idea, and she LOOOOOOVES to cut things. She wasn’t too sure about how we were going to go through with this (she was afraid of pissing me off), but I didn’t care; I was going to do it no matter what. She decided to find something else to drink. She pulled down the bottle of Kahlua that was up front. She asked me how old it is, and I said, “I don’t know… a few years. I’m sure it’s fine.” So she poured the rest into her glass. The next thing she pulled out was a Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Kahlua! I didn’t remember buying it, but I must have last year, I think. My mouth flew wide open, and I knew I was going to drink some of that tonight.
I could make this a much longer story, but suffice to say, after we got the child to bed, I finished my martini and was looking for something else. I don’t like drinking beer so late, and the Pumpkin Spice Kahlua was calling my name.
Now, I know the Pumpkin Spice flavor has been trending for everything for the last few years, and I’ve been avoiding it like the plague, fearing that if I tasted too many bad PS cookies/candies, whatever, that I would hate Autumn for the rest of my life. I must have bought that Kahlua at a time of weakness, where I must have really been craving something.
Well, right around that time is when I decided I needed to detox from drinking, and I started an intervention program in the Spring, right before the shelter-in-place orders were placed in California. Of course, I forgot about the PS Kahlua after that. Finding this tonight was AMAZING!!!
Now finally, the review.
I realized that the bottle of SKYY vodka was just sitting there, untouched for months. I remembered that I had also bought a small carton of heavy cream last week. It’s like some of my purchases from the last year DECIDED to come together TONIGHT!!!
I have to say, as far as White Russians go, I made a pretty good one. I put too much cream in, though, but that’s not much of a problem when it comes to this drink. A decent vodka goes SUPERBLY with this version of a favorite coffee liquor. If you happen to have this version of Kahlua around, I highly recommend this drink. I have to give this drink an “A”. I never thought I’d start off my drinking blog with an “A”, but here I go.

- 2oz. Pumpkin Spice Kahlua
- 2oz. SKYY Vodka
- However much heavy cream you think you need
Maybe you’ll have second one after this, or change it up a bit. Please let me know in the comments section. Or if you have any suggestions for my blog, let me know as well.
